Police arrest 6-year-old girl‏

~~~~~~
Salecia Johnson is six years old. On April 13, her teachers say she had a temper tantrum in class — but instead of putting her in time-out, the school called the police
Salecia was handcuffed, charged with battery, and kept in police custody for an hour before her parents found out what was going on. Though all charges have been dropped, Salecia — a 6-year-old —  now has an arrest record.
Salecia’s mom, Constance, says that “Salecia has been traumatized by this experience. She’s afraid to return to school and recently woke up in the middle of the night saying ‘they are coming to get me.’” Constance wants to make sure that this incident won’t affect Salecia’s future, and she wants answers about why police officers were involved in the first place.
So Constance started a petition on Change.org demanding that Salecia’s arrest be removed from her record and that Creekside Elementary pledge to stop involving police in school discipline.
Click here to add your name.
Constance believes that what happened to Salecia is part of a larger problem. Schools across America are adopting “zero-tolerance” policies that are making police involvement in school disciplinary matters more and more common, according to the Advancement Project, a group working with Constance’s family.
If thousands of people sign Constance’s petition, the police and the officials at Creekside Elementary will see that they can’t arrest and handcuff a six-year-old girl without facing public consequences. Schools around the country will take notice — and Constance hopes there won’t be another child that faces what Salecia did.
Click here to sign Constance’s petition demanding that Salecia’s arrest be removed from her record and that Creekside Elementary pledge to stop involving police in school discipline.
Thanks for being a change-maker,
- William and the Change.org team
PETA AND ASPCA TAKE DOWN CABOODLE RANCH
Caboodle Ranch is a 30 acre 501c3 non-profit cat rescue sanctuary founded by a single individual who cared enough to make a difference in the lives of what are now hundreds of abandoned cats.
This 64 year old man, armed only with a bag of cat food, was taken in by excessive force in early March with a gun held to his head and told at the time of arrest that he was being charged with a misdemeanor. His name is Craig Grant, and before even being given a chance to prove his innocence, he was branded an animal abuser and a hoarder, and his mugshot was plastered across newspapers, websites, and countless social media outlets across the country, by vultures seeking to make a sensation to raise support for their political agenda.
You’d think the ASPCA and PETA would want to help, right?
Keep reading if you want to know more. Click here to sign the petition to return the cats and Craig to Caboodle Ranch.
ASPCA
ASPCA and law enforcement raided Caboodle Ranch just after 9 in the morning when Craig was just beginning his chores for the day. Litterboxes were not just scooped, but emptied completely and continually refilled every morning. Craig was holding a bag of Purina when he was arrested. He was in the process of topping off the food bins. Wet food was given every day around 4pm. Water was constantly being refreshed throughout the day. Floors and counters were scrubbed daily. All these chores were just beginning when he was arrested, but that doesn’t matter because it made for perfect video just the way it was.  They trapped cats into the night.
Craig tried his hardest, with the help and advice of a veterinarian, to treat every cat that was sick. He has many cases (with vet records to prove it) where he’s helped bring these sick cats back to perfect health, and he did it out of sheer determination and love. He spent countless nights hand-feeding cats that couldn’t eat for themselves, administered medications that were needed, and watched over these cats throughout the night because he didn’t want one to die as he slept.
Ask them who their poster cat is right now. It’s Tommy, Craig’s cat. He’s sick with FIP, had a lot of bloodwork done, had a feeding tube put in that went from his nose to his stomach and was receiving formula. Dr. Lewis, Caboodle’s veterinarian, was monitoring his health. Tommy had been posted about many times. Take a look back within the last 5+ Caboodle Ranch posts and read his story for yourself. $5000 was just spent on his care at a small hospital in Gainsville. He was starting to gain weight and had even started to eat sliced deli meat before he was taken.
His care at Caboodle Ranch is well documented.
PETA
PETA knows how to be dramatic with their filming. Ask them why it took them 5 months to get the footage they have. If a place is deplorable, it shouldn’t take longer than a day to get the film evidence needed. But they know the conditions had to be just right… they’ve done this stuff before.
Some of the footage of Caboodle Ranch was taken after a massive downpour of rain swept through the county… the perfect conditons to film cats huddled inside buildings with dirty floors. And as a “volunteer, part of her job was cleaning… But better to film it instead.
Caboodle cats were not confined to these buildings. They had acres of land in which to roam freely. The property was filled with little cat houses, including a cat sized church, a school, a little courthouse… These weren’t for Craig to play in.
This PETA investigator chased a 3-legged cat to film it falling and sliding across the floor. For what purpose? This cat came to him that way, as so many other unwanted cats do. He came in from West Virginia, very scared, and it took 3 months for them to become friends. He’s a cat with a beautiful personality who was happy and at home at the ranch.
This PETA investigator filmed a refridgerator she knew wasn’t in use, and filmed the inside of a decrepid building that was boarded and closed off to cats. This building is still there on the property for anyone to tour and see for themselves.
But it all made for dramatic footage. Ask how many donations they received after posting it. Ask them how much more support they got for stopping the Animal Rescue Act they’re trying to oppose.
Craig is up against two huge organizations, one especially known for its bullying and deceitfullness. Please help him to defend himself by making a donation for his legal fees. The Paypal link can be found on Caboodle Ranch’s website.
PETITION TO REINSTATE JENNA TALACKOVA AS MISS UNIVERSE CANADA CONTESTANT Link post
transsuccess:
Trans* Success would like to ask any interested members to sign a petition to reinstate Jenna Talackova as a Miss Universe Canada Contestant.  She was disqualified due to her trans status though there is no rule anywhere in the books saying that she had to be born a cisgender female in order to compete.  Sometimes people have to fight for what they want and our community is well aware of this fact.  Jenna refuses to go down without a fight.  Be the difference and help Jenna create her own success story.
Here’s her story.
Ricardo, his wife Mary, and their two children
Ricardo Cote, animal rescuer, father of two, and loyal husband, needs our help NOW.
This story is extremely close to my heart- Ricardo is our friend’s husband. He only has one week before he is supposed to be deported.
A baby born from his mother’s rape, Ricardo’s grandparents viewed him as an embarrassment and kept him in a cupboard, away from human interaction or compassion, until age seven. His mother finally rescued him and took him to the United States, where he learned to communicate with humans. Now, 42 years later, the US government is trying to send him away from his wife, children, and troupe of rescued animals.
Some of Ricardo’s many, many rescues, whose fates will be unknown if he is deported.
PLEASE take a moment to sign & share this petition. Ricardo is an inspiration and the embodiment of the American dream. Let’s save him.
This baby fox will live her entire life in this cage. When she’s big enough, she will be ripped from her cage with a pole, anally or vaginally electrocuted, and killed to become part of a coat or vest for companies like INTERMIX.
Her body will be discarded and she will be forgotten. Unless we continue to be her voice. INTERMIX has not replied to a single email, call, tweet, or facebook post. More than 27,000 people have voiced their concern through our petition, and they continue to pretend we don’t exist.
We will not be ignored. Please help us continue spreading compassion and hope for those without a voice. Sign & share our INTERMIX: PLEASE GO FUR FREE petition.
An Indian couple have had their children taken away by Norwegian social workers because they were feeding them with their hands and sleeping in the same bed as them.
Anurup and Sagarika Bhattacharya lost custody of their three-year-old son and one-year-old daughter eight months ago after authorities branded their behaviour inappropriate.
This is an absolute injustice and complete cultural ignorance.
facepalmx2combo:
I’ve noticed it has a load of reblogs but hardly any signatures.
There are three things I can think of that might be the reason:
  1. People are reblogging without signing, and while signal boosts are great, signatures are really handy.
  2. People outside of the UK are getting…
Most of the anti-ACTA petitions I’ve seen so far I’ve been a little dubious of, but I’ve just found out Access Now are running one. Access Now campaign on internet freedom issues all over the world, and they’re one of the three main organisations where I do most of my slacktivism, so I’m pleased to know they’re doing something about ACTA. If you care about internet freedom and you aren’t already familiar with Access Now, you should definitely consider following their work.
Anyway: ANTI-ACTA PETITION. GO SIGN.
This is even worse than SOPA. Also it’s in Europe. PLEASE SIGN AND SPREAD THE WORD. SOPA is dead. We can do this with ACTA too.
When Sandra Baker was called to pick up her 9-year-old autistic son, Chris, from his Mercer County, Kentucky school, she was stunned by what she found: She says that Chris’s teacher had stuffed him in a bag and left him in the hallway as punishment.
“When I walked in,” Sandra told CBS News, “I went down his hallway, and I saw this big green bag laying in the floor beside the [teacher’s] aide, and I saw it moving.”
Then Sandra heard a voice come from inside the bag:“Momma, is that you?”
Sandra demanded her son be released immediately, but allegedly the bag was tied so tightly the teacher’s aide struggled to open it. When Chris finally got out, his mom says he was sweaty and uncommunicative.
Lydia Brown, a freshman at Georgetown University, is autistic, too. When she heard about Chris’s ordeal at school, she started a petition on Change.org demanding the Mercer County school district discipline the teacher who put Chris in the bag and require its teachers to complete training on interacting with autistic children. Click here to sign Lydia’s petition now.
At a meeting with school officials last week, Sandra learned this wasn’t the first time Chis had been stuffed in the bag as punishment. The teachers allegedly referred to the bag as a “therapy bag,” but lacking even basic training for working with autistic children, were unable to explain how confining Chris to a drawstring bag constituted “therapy” of any kind.
Here’s the worst part: after her meeting, Sandra says she received no guarantee that this kind of abuse wouldn’t happen again — either to Chris or to other students in Mercer County schools.
That’s just not acceptable to Sandra, or to the 12,000 people who’ve already signed Lydia’s petition on Change.org. The school board won’t be able to ignore this issue when they see the thousands of people angry about Chris’s treatment and calling for changes.
Please sign Lydia’s petition to get Mercer County schools to fire Chris’s teacher, and to get the school district to require its staff to complete comprehensive training on interacting with autistic children.
Followers, sign and reblog the shit out of this, please.
